=== World War II === During World War II, Mong-Yu was the junction of the Ledo and Burma Roads.<ref>{{cite book |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=vHMAs2qIAA8C&pg=PA125 |title=China-Burma-India Theater: Time Runs Out in CBI |publisher=Government Printing Office |year=1953 |isbn=978-0-16-088231-9 |pages=206}}</ref> In January 1945, the Chinese 30th and 38th Divisions moved southeast towards Namhkam and met up at Mong-Yu. Mong-Yu was occupied by the Japanese 56th Division, but the 56th soon retreated to Mandalay. On 20 January, the 38th met up with soldiers of Y force.
