==Plot== The story tells of the history of Grumdrig and the creation of the realms. Currently, there are six realms: Knoram, Expodrine, Oobag, Spoltog, Pemptus, and Alpaquil. The latter three are still open, but Knoram, Expodrine, and Oobag were permanently closed to the creation of new characters upon the arrival of Pemptus, which launched on February 8, 2007. On December 9, 2021, users found a mysterious "Alpaquil" realm on the guild pages.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2021-12-09 |title=Progress Quest Guild Page |url=http://progressquest.com/guild.php?id=177 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20211209175828/http://progressquest.com/guild.php?id=177 |archive-date=2021-12-09 |access-date=2022-08-25}}</ref> Fredricksen then released a beta version of the new realm, which would be exclusive to the in-browser version of the game.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2021-12-14 |title=Play Progress Quest |url=http://progressquest.com/pq-web-2/ |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20211214171004/http://progressquest.com/pq-web-2/ |archive-date=2021-12-14 |access-date=2022-08-25}}</ref> At first, it was only accessible through a link provided by Fredrickson, but on December 14 the realm was fully released to the public. The story mimics convoluted fantasy plots, using archaic and made up words such as "aberdoxy".
