In 1955, Huff was voted an [[College Football All-America Team|All-American]]<ref name=wvu /> and served as co-captain in both the [[East–West Shrine Game]] and the [[Senior Bowl]].<ref>{{College Football HoF|id=1809|name=Sam Huff|access-date=June 29, 2008 }}</ref> Huff was also named first team [[Academic All-American]] for his outstanding efforts in the classroom.
