==Military career==
McCoy enlisted as a soldier in the [[United States Army|U.S. Army]] and served in the [[United States Cavalry|cavalry]] during [[World War I]] (although he did not serve in combat nor overseas).<ref name=":0" /><ref>McCoy, T.
