==Other webring websites== An alternative website is Webringo.com,<ref>{{cite web |title=Free Web Rings |url=http://webringo.com/ |access-date=2013-05-26 |publisher=WebRingo}}</ref> run as a hobby by the RingMaster. The first "webringo" first appeared in the Internet Archive in September 2006,<ref>{{cite web |title=WebRingo |url=http://webringo.com |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20060801000000/http://webringo.com |archive-date=1 August 2006 |access-date=2013-05-26}}</ref> but failed in September 2011. The present RingMaster took it over as a hobby in August 2012, and then went down somewhere in March 2024. Alt-webring.com<ref>{{cite web|url=http://alt-webring.com/ |title=the alternative webring system |publisher=alt-webring.com |access-date=2013-05-26}}</ref> used the Ringlink (Free CGI Perl program for running webrings).<ref>{{cite web|author=Ringlink |url=http://www.ringlink.org/index.php |title=Ringlink Homepage |publisher=Ringlink.org |access-date=2013-05-26}}</ref> The first "Alt-webring" first appeared in the Internet Archive in April 2003.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://alt-webring.com |title=Alt-webring |access-date=2022-08-05| archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20030406145909/http://alt-webring.com/|archive-date=6 April 2003|url-status=dead}}</ref> Alt-webring.com has since closed and has been taken over by a [[Cybersquatting|domain squatter]]. RingSurf.com<ref>{{Cite web |url=http://www.ringsurf.com/ |title=RingSurf.com |access-date=2009-06-12 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/19980612213331/http://www.ringsurf.com/ |archive-date=1998-06-12 |url-status=dead }}</ref> uses the term "Net Rings". The site first appeared in the Internet Archive in June 1998.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.ringsurf.com/ |title=RingSurf |date=1998-06-12 |access-date=2013-05-26 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/19980612213331/http://www.ringsurf.com/ |archive-date=June 12, 1998 }}</ref> The site's main page and directory of rings are still operating as of May 2025, but the rings' sites are inaccessible.
