[[macOS High Sierra]] was announced on June 5, 2017, during the WWDC17 keynote speech. It was released on September 25, 2017. The release includes many under-the-hood improvements, including a switch to [[Apple File System|Apple File System (APFS)]], the introduction of [[Metal (API)|Metal 2]], support for [[High Efficiency Video Coding|HEVC video]], and improvements to [[virtual reality]] support.
