In 1996, cable network [[Showtime (TV network)|Showtime]] aired [[Sabrina the Teenage Witch (film)|''Sabrina the Teenage Witch'']], a live-action TV movie starring [[Melissa Joan Hart]] as Sabrina. The film served as the pilot for a [[Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996 TV series)|TV series]], also starring Hart, which began airing in the fall of 1996 on [[American Broadcasting Company|ABC]]. The sitcom was relatively faithful to the comic book series (despite major revisions to the character's backstory that were later [[retroactive continuity|retconned]] into the comic books), and enjoyed a lengthy run until 2003. It is now available in its entirety on DVD, as is the original TV movie.
