===Rail=== Gateshead is served by the following rail transport stations with some being operated by [[National Rail]] and some being [[Tyne & Wear Metro]] stations: {{rws|Dunston}}, {{stl|Tyne and Wear Metro|Felling}}, [[Gateshead Interchange]], {{stl|Tyne and Wear Metro|Gateshead Stadium}}, [[Heworth Interchange]], {{rws|MetroCentre}} and {{stl|Tyne and Wear Metro|Pelaw}}. [[Tyne & Wear Metro]] stations at Gateshead Interchange and Gateshead Stadium provide direct light-rail access to {{rws|Newcastle Central}}, [[Newcastle Airport metro station|Newcastle Airport]], {{rws|Sunderland}}, {{rws|Tynemouth}} and [[South Shields Interchange]]. [[National Rail]] services are provided by [[Northern (train operating company)|Northern]] at [[Dunston railway station|Dunston]] and [[MetroCentre railway station|MetroCentre]] stations. The [[East Coast Main Line]], which runs from {{rws|London Kings Cross}} to {{rws|Edinburgh Waverley}}, cuts directly through the town on its way between {{rws|Newcastle Central}} and {{rws|Chester-le-Street}} stations.
