=== AI, Automation and graphic design === The future of graphic design is likely to be heavily influenced by emerging technologies and social trends. Advancements in areas such as artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, and automation are likely to transform the way that graphic designers work and create designs. Social trends, such as a greater focus on sustainability and inclusivity, are also likely to impact the future of graphic design.<ref>Guffey, E. (2018). Building Bridges to the Future of Graphic Design Education. Visual Communication Quarterly, 25(2), 77–88.</ref> One area where emerging technologies are likely to have a significant impact on graphic design is in the automation of certain tasks. Easily accessible computer software using AI algorithms will complete many practical tasks performed by graphic designers, allowing clients to bypass human designers altogether. <ref>{{Cite journal |last1=Matthews |first1=Benjamin |last2=Shannon |first2=Barrie |last3=Roxburgh |first3=Mark |date=2023-05-24 |title=Destroy All Humans: The Dematerialisation of the Designer in an Age of Automation and its Impact on Graphic Design—A Literature Review |url=https://doi.org/10.1111/jade.12460 |journal=International Journal of Art & Design Education |volume=42 |issue=3 |pages=367–383 |doi=10.1111/jade.12460 |issn=1476-8062|doi-access=free }}</ref>Machine learning algorithms, for example, can analyze large datasets and create designs based on patterns and trends, freeing up designers to focus on more complex and creative tasks. Virtual and augmented reality technologies may also allow designers to create immersive and interactive experiences for users, blurring the lines between the digital and physical worlds.<ref>Hassenzahl, M., Diefenbach, S., & Göritz, A. (2010). Needs, Affect, and Interactive Products: Facets of User Experience. Some of those challenges include maintaining brand authenticity, ensuring quality, issues of bias, and preserving creative control.<ref>Dhiya’ Zielfita Munzier et al., “Challenges Faced by Graphic Designers in Developing Brand Communication within the Realm of Artificial Intelligence” (World Conference on Governance and Social Sciences (WCGSS 2023), Atlantis Press, 2024), 639–49.</ref> Visual communication design education is ill prepared for automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning.<ref>{{Cite journal |last1=Matthews |first1=Benjamin |last2=Shannon |first2=Barrie |last3=Roxburgh |first3=Mark |date=2023-05-24 |title=Destroy All Humans: The Dematerialisation of the Designer in an Age of Automation and its Impact on Graphic Design—A Literature Review |url=https://doi.org/10.1111/jade.12460 |journal=International Journal of Art & Design Education |volume=42 |issue=3 |pages=367–383 |doi=10.1111/jade.12460 |issn=1476-8062|doi-access=free }}</ref> Social trends are also likely to shape the future of graphic design. As consumers become more conscious of environmental issues, for example, there may be a greater demand for designs that prioritize sustainability and minimize waste. Similarly, there is likely to be a growing focus on inclusivity and diversity in design, with designers seeking to create designs that are accessible and representative of a wide range of individuals and communities.<ref>Rolston, M.
