===AmigaOS 4=== 4.0 introduced a new system for allocating RAM and defragmenting physical memory. It still uses flat shared address space that cannot be defragmented. It is based on slab allocation and paging memory that allows swapping. Paging was implemented in 4.1. It can lock up the system if all physical memory is used up. Swap memory could be activated and deactivated, allowing the user to choose to use only physical RAM.
