The M56 links to the [[M6 motorway|M6]] and, to the north of Widnes, the A557 links to the [[M62 motorway|M62]].<ref>''Landranger'' 108, 109 and 117 maps, [[Ordnance Survey]]</ref> There are two railway stations. [[Runcorn railway station|Runcorn]], located in the old town, is on the Liverpool branch of the [[West Coast Main Line]], and is managed by [[Avanti West Coast]], which provides services between [[Liverpool Lime Street railway station|Liverpool Lime Street]] and [[Euston railway station|London Euston]]. [[West Midlands Trains]] run a service between Liverpool and Birmingham New Street that calls at the station.
