A little over a week ago I replaced a bunch of maps in JPEG format that were taken from the CIA World Factbook with the same maps in PNG format. As I did so, I built up quite a [[User:Bkell/Orphaned images|list of orphaned images]], which will be a bit of a task for some admin to remove. A thought just flashed into my head&mdash;could I have gone to, say, [[:Image:Barbados.jpg]] and used the "Move this page" feature to move it to [[:Image:Bb-map.png]] (and then uploaded the PNG version), or would that have only changed the name of the page and left the image filename alone? &mdash;[[User:Bkell|Bkell]] 10:33, 22 Apr 2004 (UTC)

:You did it the right way.  You can't use "move this page" on image: pages at all, not even to correct a typo in the filename.  Once you're finished, you can put a link to your list on [[Wikipedia:Images for deletion]] and an admin will delete them for you (don't worry about making work if you're improving wikipedia, deleting images doesn't take an admin long anyway).  :)  [[User:Fabiform|fabiform]] | [[User talk:Fabiform|talk]] 11:06, 22 Apr 2004 (UTC)
