In November 2007 Stockton on Tees Borough Council approved plans to build St. Therese of Lisieux [[Catholic]] parish church next to the primary school of the same name, where services continued to be held until funds could be obtained for the construction of the new church.<ref>{{cite web|date=27 November 2007|title=Planning Application 07/3296/FUL|url=http://www.planningwam.stockton.gov.uk/WAM133/showCaseFile.do?appType=planning&appNumber=07/3296/FUL|url-status=dead|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20081004113659/http://www.planningwam.stockton.gov.uk/WAM133/showCaseFile.do?appType=planning&appNumber=07%2F3296%2FFUL|archive-date=4 October 2008|access-date=4 August 2009|publisher=Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council}}</ref> In August 2014 the [[Diocese of Middlesbrough]] announced that it was soon to start building the church. The [[St Therese of Lisieux]] church started on 8 June 2015, completion expected "early 2016". Building work was completed in February 2016 and the first mass was celebrated on Saturday 5 March 2016.
