In the past, particularly noisy printers such as [[Dot matrix printer|dot matrix]] and [[daisy wheel]] designs were often housed in soundproofed boxes or cabinets, and the same technique can be used with modern printers to reduce their perceived noise. Another solution is to network the printer and locate it physically away from the immediate work area.
