These roundabouts do not form a complete circle and have a "[[wiktionary:raindrop|raindrop]]" or "[[wiktionary:teardrop|teardrop]]" shape. They have also been used at [[bowtie (road)|bowtie]] intersections, replacing traffic signals that are inefficient without a turning lane. In addition to their use at intersections, raindrop roundabouts are also used in [[dogbone interchange]]s (described [[#Motorways|below]]).
