Biosensors could be used to monitor [[Air pollution#Monitoring|air]], [[Water pollution#Measurement|water]], and soil pollutants such as pesticides, potentially carcinogenic, mutagenic, and/or toxic substances and endocrine disrupting chemicals.<ref>{{cite journal |last1=Justino |first1=Celine I.
