The station was founded by [[Paul Henry (broadcaster)|Paul Henry]] in 1991 as "89.3 TODAY FM. In 1992 Paul Henry sold the station to PORT FM in Timaru and was later rebranded as HITZ 89FM Wairarapa's Best Music. XS Corporation in Manawatū purchased the station in the mid-1990s. The station broadcasts on 89.5&nbsp;MHz from the Popoiti transmitter, 25&nbsp;km south of Masterton, and since 2010 to the '''Castlepoint Beach''' region on '''105.9&nbsp;MHz'''.
