Hart]] holds a 70-pound IMAX camera in the mid-deck of the space shuttle ''[[Space Shuttle Challenger|Challenger]]'' in 1984.]] IMAX cameras have flown in space on 17 occasions, [[NASA]] astronauts have used handheld IMAX cameras to document missions, and an IMAX camera has also been mounted in the payload bay of the Shuttle. Space shuttle mission [[STS-41-C]] filmed the deployment of the [[Long Duration Exposure Facility|LDEF]] (Long duration exposure facility) and the repair of the [[Solar Maximum Mission|Solar Max]] satellite. This footage was included in the 1985 IMAX movie ''[[The Dream Is Alive]]''. Kennedy Space Center in Florida has two IMAX 3D theaters.
