In support of the alliance Joscelin marches out of Edessa with a Crusader army down to the [[Euphrates|Euphrates River]], to cut off Zengi's communications with [[Aleppo]]. Zengi is informed by Muslim observers at [[Harran]] of Joscelin's movements.
