The Catholic church in the town, built between 1888 and 1902, is one of few Catholic churches named after a layperson. The decommissioned [[Royal Irish Constabulary]] barracks, dating to the 1870s and now a heritage centre, was built in the distinctive "[[Schloss]]" style favoured by its architect, Enoch Trevor Owen.
