His common law wife Barbara Kenyatta (born Barbara Ann Coleman in Harlem on June 9, 1944), was a priestess of [[Yemaja|Yémaya]] in the [[Yoruba people|Yoruba]] religion. She collapsed and died four days later.<ref name="drum" />
