==Diet and habitat== Tsessebe are primarily grazing herbivores<ref name=lekking>{{cite journal|last=Bro-Jorgensen|first=J|title=The Significance of Hotspots to Lekking Topi Antelopes (Damaliscus lunatus).|journal=Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology|year=2003|volume=53|issue=5|pages=324β331|url=https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/mbe/pdf/03_Bro-Jorgensen_BES.pdf|doi=10.1007/s00265-002-0573-0|s2cid=52829538|access-date=2017-12-11|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20171212031919/https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/mbe/pdf/03_Bro-Jorgensen_BES.pdf|archive-date=2017-12-12|url-status=dead}}</ref> in grasslands, open plains, and lightly wooded savannas, but they are also found in rolling uplands and very rarely in flat plains below 1500 m above sea level.<ref name=Estes>{{cite book |last=Estes|first=R.D.|title=The Behavior Guide to African Mammals |year=1991 |publisher=University of California Press|location=Los Angeles, CA|pages=142β146|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=g977LsZHpcsC|isbn=9780520080850}}</ref> Tsessebe found in the Serengeti usually feed in the morning between 8:00 and 9:00 am and in the afternoon after 4:00 pm. The periods before and after feeding are spent resting and digesting or watering during dry seasons. Tsessebe can travel up to 5 km to reach a viable water source. To avoid encounters with territorial males or females, tsessebe usually travel along territorial borders, though it leaves them open to attacks by lions and leopards.<ref name=Estes />
