==Official status==
By Law 482 of 1999, the [[Italian parliament]] recognized the Griko communities of Reggio Calabria and Salento as a [[Greeks|Greek]] [[ethnic groups|ethnic]] and [[linguistics|linguistic]] [[minority language|minority]].
