* A version parallel counter-part of RX-78-2 in featured manga reboot ''[[Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin]]'' same design characteristics as original, except the shoulder, leg and the body armor was remade.

====gMS-α Red Gundam==== 
A more skeletal design created by [[Ikuto Yamashita]] for ''[[Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX]], s''et during an alternate version of the Universal Century timeline. In this incarnation, Char Aznable steals the RX-78-2 Gundam and modifies it with a red color scheme, psycommu systems, and funnel bits from the abandoned Elmeth project, allowing the Principality of Zeon to win the One Year War. While it disappeared during the final battle along with Char, it reappears in UC 0085 piloted by Shuji Ito, kickstarting the main plot.
