Hacksaws were originally and principally made for cutting [[metal]], but can also cut various other materials, such as plastic and wood; for example, [[plumber]]s and [[electrician]]s often cut [[plastic pipework|plastic pipe]] and [[electrical conduit|plastic conduit]] with them, while [[surgeon]]s can use unpowered saws as [[bonesaw]]s.
