==Death== In 1996, at the age of 25, Compston died as the result of taking [[diethyl ether|ether]] at his gallery in Charlotte Road, which was also his home. His coffin was painted with a [[William Morris]] pattern by [[Gary Hume]] and Gavin Turk.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.varleypix.com/publ/publ022.htm |title=Charlie Varley β the Daily Telegraph |access-date=2009-09-30 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080807172354/http://varleypix.com/publ/publ022.htm |archive-date= 7 August 2008 }}</ref> His funeral was attended by several hundred mourners including leading figures of the London art scene.<ref>{{cite news|title=Factual Nonsense: The Extraordinary Life and Art of Joshua Compston |date= 20 August 2013|publisher=Flux Magazine|url=http://www.fluxmagazine.com/joshua-compston/|location=Manchester | first=Robert | last=Leeming}}</ref> He is buried at [[Kensal Green Cemetery]].
