In the [[Royal Canadian Navy]], the rank of lieutenant-commander (LCdr)<ref name=RCN/> is the [[Royal Canadian Navy|naval]] rank equal to [[Major (Canada)|major]] in the [[Canadian Army|army]] or [[Royal Canadian Air Force|air force]] and is the first [[Military Rank#Field or senior officers|senior officer]] rank. Lieutenant commanders are senior to [[Lieutenant (navy)|lieutenants (N)]] and to army and air force [[Captain (Canadian army and air force)|captain]]s, and are junior to [[Commander (Canada)|commander]]s and [[Lieutenant-colonel (Canada)|lieutenant colonels]].<ref name='stanag' />
