The community is {{convert|175|ft|m}} above sea level, {{convert|4.2|mi|km|1}} northwest of [[East Kilbride]], {{convert|4.4|mi|km|1}} south of Glasgow and {{convert|5|mi|km|1}} east of [[Barrhead]]. The area is contiguous with the city of Glasgow and forms part of the [[Greater Glasgow]] conurbation. It lies on the west bank of the [[River Cart|White Cart Water]], a tributary of the [[River Clyde]].
