The Dreamcast version received "favorable" reviews according to video game [[review aggregator]] [[Metacritic]].<ref name=MC /> Matt Sammons of ''[[Next Generation (magazine)|NextGen]]'' said of the game's Japanese import, "An innovative and beautiful fighting game, ''Power Stone 2'' will keep you entertained for hours. Just make sure to bring along a few friends."<ref name=NGen/> In Japan, ''[[Famitsu]]'' gave it a score of 31 out of 40.<ref name=Fam />
