It was also published in the US edition of ''The Strand Magazine'' in January 1894.<ref>Smith (2014), p. 100.</ref> It was published with nine illustrations by [[Sidney Paget]] in the ''Strand'',<ref name="Cawthorne 94">Cawthorne (2011), p. 94.</ref> and with eleven illustrations by Harry C.
