Once again, the differences between the Corolla and Sprinter were mostly cosmetic. The sedans received a more formal upright grill, while the coupé received a sleeker, aerodynamic looking frontal treatment. The Corolla's were given E30–38 codes while the Sprinter's were given corresponding E41–47 codes, making it the only generation that did not bear same chassis codes as Corolla. A three-door shooting brake style liftback with the coupé's front end was added to the line up in January 1976. When the Corolla range received a minor update in January 1977 to become the E50–55 series, the Sprinter received a corresponding update to become the E60–66 series, along with a hardtop coupé variant which used the sedan's frond end. In April 1978, the Sprinter received its second facelift to counter the new competitor introduced by Nissan called the Pulsar which was introduced a month earlier. <gallery widths="200" heights="150"> File:Toyota-SprinterE40rear.JPG|Sprinter 1.2 DX sedan (KE40, pre-facelift) File:SprinterKE65.jpg|Sprinter 1.3 DX sedan (KE65, second facelift) File:Toyota Sprinter TE62.jpg|Sprinter 1.6 XL coupé (TE62, pre-facelift) </gallery> Clear
