==Administrative and municipal status==
Ufa is the [[capital city|capital]] of the republic<ref name="Capital">Law #166-z</ref> and, within the [[subdivisions of Russia#Administrative divisions|framework of the administrative divisions]], it also serves as the [[administrative center]] of [[Ufimsky District]],<ref name="OKATO">{{OKATO reference|80 252}}</ref> even though it is not a part of it.<ref name="Ref13">Resolution #391</ref> As an administrative center, it is, together with twenty-four [[types of inhabited localities in Russia|rural localities]], incorporated separately as the [[city of federal subject significance|city of republic significance]] of Ufa, an administrative unit with status equal to that of the [[administrative divisions of the Republic of Bashkortostan|districts]], and is likewise home to a unit of Russia's [[Central Military District]]; the 12th Separate Guards Engineer Brigade.<ref name="Ref13"/> As a [[subdivisions of Russia#Municipal divisions|municipal division]], the city of republic significance of Ufa is incorporated as ''Ufa Urban Okrug''.<ref name="Ref15">Law #162-z</ref>
