==Demographics== [[File:Zikhron Yaakov.jpg|thumb|Street in Zikhron Ya'akov]] In the [[1922 census of Palestine]] conducted by the [[Mandate for Palestine|British Mandate authorities]], Zikhron Ya'akov had a population of 1,302 inhabitants; 1,013 Jews, 7 Christians and 282 Muslims,<ref name=Census1922a>Barron, 1923, Table XI, Sub-district of Haifa, p. [https://archive.org/stream/PalestineCensus1922/Palestine%20Census%20%281922%29#page/n36/mode/1up 34]</ref> where the Christians were 2 Orthodox, 3 Roman Catholics, 1 Anglican and 1 Protestant.<ref name=Census1922b>Barron, 1923, Table XVI, p. [https://archive.org/stream/PalestineCensus1922/Palestine%20Census%20%281922%29#page/n51/mode/1up 49]</ref> The population increased dramatically in the early 1950s, after the independence of Israel. Between the 1960s and 1990s, the population remained constant with about 5,000 inhabitants. As of 2025, Zikhron Ya'akov had a population of 23,875.<ref>{{cite web|title=Statistics by Town|url=https://www.btl.gov.il/mediniyut/situation/statistics/btlstatistics.aspx?type=1&id=9300|publisher=The National Insurance Institute}}</ref> Many residents continue to engage in agriculture, although upscale private homes have been built by families attracted to the scenic landscape. Zikhron Ya'akov has a high number of English speaking residents, olim and others.
