===Slow read attack=== A slow read attack sends legitimate application layer requests, but reads responses very slowly, keeping connections open longer hoping to exhaust the server's connection pool. The slow read is achieved by advertising a very small number for the TCP Receive Window size, and at the same time emptying clients' TCP receive buffer slowly, which causes a very low data flow rate.<ref>{{cite web |url=https://www.netscout.com/what-is-ddos/slow-read-attacks |title=What is a Slow Read DDoS Attack? |publisher=[[NetScout Systems]]}}</ref>
