After a few amateur productions in the 1950s, the first professional staging of the play in Brazil happened in 1969, directed by Flávio Rangel and staged by actress [[Cacilda Becker]] as Estragon and her real-life husband, actor [[Walmor Chagas]] as Vladimir. After few performances, on May 6, 1969, Becker had a [[stroke]] and collapsed during the intermission.
