''Computers and Biomedical Research'', published in 1967, was one of the first dedicated journals to health informatics. Other early journals included ''Computers and Medicine'', published by the American Medical Association; ''Journal of Clinical Computing'', published by Gallagher Printing; ''Journal of Medical Systems'', published by Plenum Press; and ''MD Computing'', published by Springer-Verlag.
