In South Korea, any knife that automatically opens wider than 45 degrees with the push of a button and has a blade that is longer than {{convert|5.5|cm|abbr=on}} is subject to registration. In order to register the knife and legally possess it, one must be older than 20, have no previous criminal offences and be healthy both physically and psychologically. The registration process is carried out at nearby police stations. However, unless the owner of the knife has a hunting license, carrying the knife in public is generally prohibited.
