=== 2024 === Anand took part in three rounds of the German Chess Bundesliga (Classical format) from 23β25 February, Scoring 2/3 against 3 top players, including Hikaru Nakamura, and Nijat Abasov, who were set to play in the Candidates in April. His performance included a 47 move victory against Abasov. <ref>{{cite web | url=https://www.chess.com/events/2023-2024-german-chess-bundesliga/games | title=German Chess Bundesliga 2023-2024 - Live Games }}</ref> He also won the Leon Masters for the 10th time in his career, after defeating Veselin Topalov 2Β½β1Β½ in the semifinals, and then proceeding to defeat Grandmaster Jamie Santos 3β1, on 30 June. <ref>{{cite web | url=https://www.chess.com/news/view/2024-leon-masters-final | title=Vishy Anand Wins 10th Leon Masters Title | date=30 June 2024 }}</ref> Anand also took part in the second Global Chess League season, held in London, where he scored a forgettable 2/10, losing 6 out of the 10 rapid games. He then played in the WR Chess masters Cup, also held in London (classical knockout format) where he lost in the quarterfinals to Grandmaster Praggnanandhaa in the tiebreak game after drawing both classical games.
