===Magazine=== The ''Red Dwarf Magazine''βthe magazine part of the title changed to "Smegazine" from Issue 3β was launched in 1992 by [[Fleetway Publications|Fleetway Editions]]. It ran for 23 issues, Volume 1 from Issues 1 through 14 and Volume 2 from Issues 1 - 9. It comprised a mix of news, reviews, interviews, comic strips, and competitions. The comic strips featured episode adaptations and original material, including further stories of popular characters like Mr. Flibble, the Polymorph and Ace Rimmer. Notably, the comic strip stories' holographic characters, predominately Rimmer, were drawn in [[grayscale|greyscale]]. This was at the request of Grant and Naylor, who had wanted to but, for financial reason, were unable to use the technique for the television series (Rimmer did appear in greyscale in "low power mode" in "The Promised Land").<ref name="Prog Guide p217">Howarth & Lyons (1993) p. 217.</ref> Despite achieving circulation figures of over 40,000 per month,<ref name="Prog Guide p217"/> the magazine's publisher decided to close the title down to concentrate on their other publications.<ref name="Series VI Aftermath"/> A farewell issue was published in January 1994, featuring remaining interviews, features, and comic strips that had been planned for the following issues.<ref name="last Smeg">{{cite magazine |url=https://archive.org/details/red_dwarf_smegazine-1993-12/page/n1 |title=Smeg-Editorial |first=Mike |last=Butcher |date=January 1994 |magazine=Red Dwarf Smegazine |volume=2 |issue=9 |page=2 |publisher=Fleetway Editions Ltd |issn=0965-5603 |access-date=29 October 2019}}</ref> The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club produces a periodical magazine for members titled ''Back to Reality''.
