Today's Asbest is a large industrial center. [[Joint-stock company]] [[Uralasbest]] is the main industrial enterprise. Other factories include ''UralATI'', ''Zarechny'', ''Asbostroy'', ''Asbestovskaya'' poultry processing plant, and a ferroconcrete production factory.
