=== 2020–present: Rapid growth and global expansion === BYD experienced a substantial surge in vehicle sales from 2020 to 2024. The company sold 4,272,145 vehicles globally in 2024, a ten-fold increase compared to the 2020 figure of 427,302 vehicles. The increase was partly attributed to the increasing popularity of new energy vehicles in China, which accounted for 27.5% of vehicle sales in China in 2022, up from 5.8% in 2020. BYD introduced its first vehicle equipped with the Blade battery, the BYD Han large sedan, in early 2020.
