==Stenography== [[Stenotype]] machines, sometimes used by [[court reporter]]s, use a chording keyboard to represent sounds: on the standard keyboard, the <kbd>U</kbd> represents the sound and word, 'you', and the three-key trigraph <kbd>KAT</kbd> represents the sound and word 'cat'. The stenotype keyboard is explicitly ordered: in <kbd>KAT</kbd>, <kbd>K</kbd>, on the left, is the starting sound. <kbd>P</kbd>, <kbd>S</kbd>, and <kbd>T</kbd>, which are common starting sounds and also common ending sounds, are available on both sides of the keyboard: <kbd>POP</kbd> is a 3-key chord, using both <kbd>P</kbd> keys.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.artofchording.com/layout/chorded-keyboard.html|title = Chorded keyboard | Art of Chording}}</ref>
