== how to add pictures supporting activities in articles == how to add pictures supporting activities in articles [[User:Chitra Sarwara Ambala|Chitra Sarwara Ambala]] ([[User talk:Chitra Sarwara Ambala|talk]]) 06:05, 26 May 2025 (UTC) :@[[User:Chitra Sarwara Ambala|Chitra Sarwara Ambala]], I'm not sure what you mean by "pictures supporting activities", but see [[Help:Pictures]]. Images, in general, should illustrate article content, and more images is not necessarily better. It's easiest to use pics you find on '''[https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page Commons]'''. The rule of thumb is that any random pic you find online is under copyright and can't be used on Wikipedia or Commons. [[User:Gråbergs Gråa Sång|Gråbergs Gråa Sång]] ([[User talk:Gråbergs Gråa Sång|talk]]) 07:02, 26 May 2025 (UTC) :@Chitra Sarwara Ambala: Hi There! I am new here and I've just practiced with adding pictures, so here's my take. To add pictures supporting activities in articles, you need to use images that are freely licensed and relevant to the content of the article. The best place to find such images is [[commons:Main_Page|Wikimedia Commons]], which is the central repository for images used on Wikipedia. :If you have a suitable image (for example, one you took yourself), you can upload it to Commons using the [[commons:Special:UploadWizard|Upload Wizard]]. Be sure to provide a proper description, source, and select a free license (such as CC BY-SA). :Once the image is on Commons, you can add it to the article using this syntax: :<nowiki><code><nowiki>[[File:Example.jpg|thumb|Caption describing the image]]</nowiki></nowiki><nowiki></code></nowiki> :Replace "Example.jpg" with the actual file name you uploaded or found on Commons, and write an appropriate caption. :More guidance is available at [[Help:Pictures]]. Let me know if you need help finding a specific image or formatting it correctly. [[User:TheGreenPenWrites|TheGreenPenWrites]] ([[User talk:TheGreenPenWrites|talk]]) 16:17, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
