==Transfer to ARIN and ICANN== The InterNIC project included Internet [[IP_address|IP number assignment]], [[Autonomous_system_(Internet)|ASN assignment]], and reverse [[DNS_zone|DNS zone (in-addr.arpa) management]] tasks until December 1997 when the [[ARIN|American Registry for Internet Numbers]] (ARIN) came into operation.
