==Discontinuation== The POSTNET 11-digit barcode was the predominant postal addressing barcode in use until the [[Intelligent Mail barcode]] (also known in its early usage as OneCode Solution)<ref>{{Cite web | url=http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2012-03-02/pdf/2012-5050.pdf | title=POSTNET Barcode Discontinuation}}</ref> was introduced and implemented. The POSTNET barcode was replaced by the Intelligent Mail barcode in the fall of 2009, combining all previous Postal Service barcodes and marking into a single barcode. The Intelligent Mail barcode was originally supposed to be required beginning May 2011 however the USPS postponed the requirement date, allowing mailers to continue receiving automation discount rates using the POSTNET barcode until January 28, 2013, at which time Intelligent Mail barcode was required for those reduced rates.<ref>{{cite web | url=http://pe.usps.com/DMMAdvisory.asp?Dest=DMMAdvisory011311a.htm | title=Postal Service Relaxes Upcoming Requirements for Automation Prices | url-status=dead | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110308002204/http://pe.usps.com/DMMAdvisory.asp?Dest=DMMAdvisory011311a.htm | archive-date=2011-03-08 }}</ref><ref name='USPS 2008-09-17'>{{cite web | title = Intelligent Mail Services Latest News | publisher = United States Postal Service | date = September 21, 2012 | url = https://ribbs.usps.gov/index.cfm?page=intellmaillatestnews | access-date = 2012-09-27 | format = PDF | quote = The Intelligent Mail barcode, formerly referred to as the 4-State Customer barcode, is a new Postal Service barcode used to sort and track letters and flats. The Postal Service is promoting use of the Intelligent Mail barcode because it expands the ability to track individual mailpieces and provides customers with greater visibility into the mailstream.}}</ref>
