While working as a stand-in during screen tests, McGoohan was signed to a contract with [[The Rank Organisation]]. He had frequent roles in television anthology series such as ''[[Television Playwright]]'', ''Folio'', ''[[Armchair Theatre]]'', ''[[ITV Play of the Week]]'' and ''[[ITV Television Playhouse]]''.
