==Variants==

Each of these protocols may also define variants of [[Portable Game Notation|Portable Game Notation (PGN)]] and [[Forsyth–Edwards_Notation|Forsyth–Edwards Notation (FEN)]]. The XBoard CECP is said to require far fewer changes to support variants.<ref name=evert/>
