===Geology=== The rock [[stratum|strata]] on which Weybridge sits were deposited in the [[Cenozoic]]. The [[Bagshot Formation|Bagshot Sands]] are the main outcrop to the south of the town and at Brooklands.<ref name=Dewey_1915_pp38-39>{{harvnb|Dewey|Bromehead|1915|pp=38β39}}</ref> From the centre of Weybridge northwards towards the Thames, the surface geology is dominated by river gravels.<ref>{{harvnb|Dewey|Bromehead|1915|p=77}}</ref> Overlying the Bagshot Sands at St George's Hill is a cap of Bracklesham Clay,<ref name=Dewey_1915_pp38-39/> which was used for [[brickworks|brickmaking]] in the 19th century.<ref>{{harvnb|Tarplee|1998|loc=133-4}}</ref> [[Ironstone]], containing 33-48% [[iron(III) oxide]], is also found on the Hill,<ref>{{harvnb|Dewey|Bromehead|1915|pp=50β51}}</ref> along with a capping of [[chert]] gravels, thought to have been deposited by a former course of the River Wey.<ref>{{harvnb|Dewey|Bromehead|1915|p=62}}</ref>
