Conspicuous ice-free peak, {{convert|2,410|m}} high, standing {{convert|6|mi}} northwest of [[Mount Gniewek]] and north of the head of Carlyon Glacier in the Cook Mountains.

Named by US-ACAN for Lt. Cdr. R.A. Kanak, USN, commander of USS Durant on ocean station duty in support of aircraft flights between Christchurch and McMurdo Sound in USN OpDFrz 1963.{{sfn|Alberts|1995|p=382}}
