The Hogwarts Express is described as a steam train which transports Hogwarts students to and from the school at the beginning and end of each term. It also transports willing students home for the Christmas holidays. It is stationed in Hogsmeade when not in use, and it can be accessed only by using the magical barrier between platforms 9 and 10 of [[London King's Cross railway station|King's Cross]] train station (known as " Platform 9¾") in London.
